Accessibility

We want Sportsmortem to be usable by everyone, including people who browse with a screen reader, navigate by keyboard, need larger text or higher contrast, or prefer reduced motion.

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA and are currently partially conformant: most of the standard is met, with the exceptions noted below.

What you can do

  • Navigate the whole site with a keyboard, including the standings tables, shot maps and charts.
  • Use a screen reader: tables announce their row and column headers, and abbreviations such as “GD” are read as “Goal difference”.
  • Zoom in or increase text size without losing content.
  • Both the light and dark themes meet the contrast minimums.
  • Animation stops if your system asks for reduced motion, and the headline carousel can be paused at any time.

How we test

We check every page with automated tooling, and we go through the site by keyboard and with two screen readers — VoiceOver on macOS and NVDA on Windows. We also check that it holds up when zoomed to 200% and on a narrow phone screen.

This testing is done by our own team. We have not commissioned an independent audit, which is the main reason we describe ourselves as partially rather than fully conformant.

Known limitations

  • The site is available in English only, though dates, numbers and sport terminology follow your locale.

Report a problem

If something on this site blocks you, please tell us. Let us know the page, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you were using — a specific report is the fastest route to a fix.
